Dune-1984-Advance-1     Jodorowskys_Dune_poster_usa

Today was Dune Day! Wherein some lovely friends hosted a viewing of David Lynch’s Dune, followed by Jodorowsky’s Dune. (I read the book for the first time in Spring of this year and have been longing for Sting and P-Stew ever since.)

As it was a brunch thing, I picked up some fresh mini bagels from the Bagelsmith on Bedford (which sounds rather like something from a children’s book, doesn’t it?)

and some lox, cream cheese, capers, and an onion.

I did notice some street art on my walk through Williamsburg, as I am wont to do.

After a brief iced chai latte at Atlas,

I met up with A and we hopped on the M, aiming for Fresh Pond Road, which is as grim as any other train stop that’s been used hard and put up wet.

Upon arriving we took over the kitchen and put together this, my very first bagel and lox platter *tear*:

The hosts made some awesome potatoes and egg casserole, in addition to these beauties:

Whilst feasting, we watched some pretty epic Science Fiction theater.

Afterwards, A and I went to Caracas Areba Bar, a Venezuelan place in Williamsburg that specializes in “Latin sloppy Joes.” .

I got the deep fried yucca-potato cakes with chorizo, corn and cilantro which were damn tasty.

A got the Los Muchacos arepas which had grilled chorizo, spicy white cheese, jalapeños, and sautéed peppers; he seemed to approve.

After all that was a struggle bus 6 story climb followed by a 40 minute walk home lugging a small suit case worth of clothes in an oversized H&M bag, and finally, some chocolate at the end of the road.
